You asked for it WayneCounty, an opportunity to participate in a countywide health initiative to get WayneCounty healthier. Please make your plans now to attend one of two kick-off sessions to be held at the downtown Paramount Theater. The first kick-off session will be on Tuesday, September 10th from 5:30 – 6:30 P.M. and the second one will be on Wednesday morning, September 11th from 7:30 – 8:30 A.M.

The purpose of the kick-off is to bring citizens together to jumpstart the new initiative.  In order for an undertaking of this size and nature to be successful it is imperative that we have your input and help in designing and implementing this community wide effort.

Research shows that programs designed around local needs, addressing their challenges, and incorporating their ideas are more successful and sustainable.  We definitely NEED you at the table as we move this initiative forward.  This is your opportunity to be part of making it happen and being successful. We welcome and invite representative from faith community (Pastors and Congregants), civic clubs and organizations, local business owners and operators, professionals, community leaders, county and city officials, health advocates etc. It’s for men, women, young adults, teenagers, youth and kids. Bring the entire family and let’s get started building a better future for WayneCounty.

At the kick-off you will have an opportunity to hear a brief 5-10 minute presentation on the genesis of the project, the need, and proposed action plan. You will hear a testimony or two from citizens who have changed their health status and how they did it.

Afterwards we’ll get you up and moving in a fun and energizing workout session designed to get your heart rate up and blood flowing.

There will be stations set up for you to share your ideas and sign up for your areas of interest. At my station you will have an opportunity to weigh-in, receive a monthly Eat Smart Move More Journal for charting food intake and exercise regimen. You can even cast your vote on specific components you want us to build and incorporate into Go Wayne Go at the Go Wayne Go Resource and SupportCenter. At another station you will also have an opportunity to take the Go Wayne Go challenge and receive a Go Wayne Go T-shirt.

Make your plans now to be part of our historic kick-off to make WayneCounty a healthier and better place to live, work, and play. I’ll see you there!
